Managing shipping carriers and services

This action can be performed by users with the Manage shipping permission.

Use NewStore Omnichannel Manager to set up shipping carriers and carrier services or provider rates for your business. Because each shipping carrier offers specific shipping options differently, map each carrier service level to shipping options in your business.

Before you add shipping carriers and carrier services, ensure that you have set up the following:

Adding a shipping carrier and carrier service levels​

To add shipping carriers and carrier service levels for your business:

  1. Inform your integration team before adding shipping carriers and carrier service levels. This ensures that they are mapped accurately to any external systems that will use them.

  2. Go to Settings > Shipping, and in the left menu, select Carrier services.

  3. Click Add carrier.

  4. In Code, specify a unique code for the shipping carrier that you want to use.

  5. In Carrier URL, specify the shipping carrier adapter URL, where requests for shipping options and carrier services from NewStore Omnichannel Cloud will be posted.

    Important

    NewStore uses this code and URL in all integrations with the shipping carrier, and to request for shipping services from the carrier during checkout in NewStore Associate App.

  6. In Carrier service level code, specify a unique code for each shipping option configured for your business.

    note

    NewStore uses this value to match the carrier service level with the shipping option that you want to offer to your customers, during checkout in NewStore Associate App.

    For example, the shipping option Next Day can be offered by UPS in New York, and FedEx in Boston. Specify two carrier service level codes to match them with this shipping option, such as UPS_NEXT_DAY_AIR and FEDEX_2_DAY.

  7. (Optional) Select the Use rate from shipping carrier checkbox to use the specific rate that your shipping carrier returns for the order, instead of a flat rate for the associated shipping option. The custom rate is based on product information for items in the order, delivery address of the customer, etc.

    To charge your customer a flat rate to ship the order with the associated shipping option, see Shipping options .

  8. Click Save.

To update or delete the details of a shipping carrier and related carrier services, contact the support team.

Updating a shipping carrier and related service levels​

To update the details of a shipping carrier and associated service levels:

  1. Go to Settings > Shipping, and in the left menu, select Carrier services.
  2. To edit the details of a shipping carrier, click Edit.
  3. In the Edit carrier screen, update the details of the shipping carrier and associated service levels.
  4. Click Save.

Updating fulfillment locations for a shipping carrier​

To update the fulfillment locations that can use the specific shipping carrier and associated service levels to deliver orders in your business:

  1. Go to Settings > Shipping, and in the left menu, select Carrier services.
  2. To update the fulfillment locations:
    • If no fulfillment locations have been specified yet, click Select locations.
    • To edit the existing fulfillment locations, in the Shipping from area, click Edit.
  3. In Shipping from, select the countries where you want all fulfillment locations to use the shipping carrier and associated service levels when delivering orders.
  4. (Optional) To limit the availability of the shipping carrier and associated service levels to specific fulfillment locations in the selected countries:
    1. Select the Limit to specific locations checkbox.
    2. In Enter location, select the relevant fulfillment locations.
  5. Click Save.
