Managing shipping zones

Important

This self-service feature is not available for use yet.

Permission required
This action can be performed by users with the Manage shipping permission.

Use shipping zones you create in NewStore Omnichannel Manager to deliver orders in your business from specified fulfillment locations. For example, you can create a shipping zone named New York in the US, and use two fulfillment locations to ship orders to all postal codes starting with 10.

Before you can start delivering orders in the shipping zones you create, ensure that you have set up the following for your business:

Creating a shipping zone

To create a shipping zone for your business:

  1. Inform your integration team when you create shipping zones to ensure that they are mapped accurately to any external systems that will use them.

  2. Go to Settings > Shipping, and in the left menu, select Shipping zones.

  3. Click Add shipping zone.

  4. In Name, specify a name for the shipping zone.

  5. In Countries, specify the geographical region that you want to deliver orders in.

    note

You can specify multiple destination regions to ship to.

  6. (Optional) Select the Limit to specific postal codes checkbox if you want to ship to specific postal codes in the region.

    note

You can specify multiple postal codes separated by a comma, in the field below the checkbox. To specify a postal code range, use * to represent all characters. For example, if you want to ship to all postal codes starting with 90, enter 90* in the field.

  7. Click Next.

  8. In Locations, specify a list of fulfillment locations that can fulfill orders to the specified postal codes.

    Important

The fulfillment locations that you select are prioritized based on their position in the list. For example, if you have selected 3 fulfillment locations in this order (DC01 > DC02 > US01), orders in this shipping zone are routed first to DC01. If DC01 cannot fulfill an order with the requested shipping option, NewStore routes the order to DC02 and so on.

  9. Click Save zone.

The shipping zone is now operational and available in NewStore Omnichannel Cloud, and you can start delivering orders. To update or delete the details of a shipping zone, contact the support team.

Updating the priority of shipping zones

The priority of shipping zones decides which fulfillment location an order is routed to first for fulfillment. If an order cannot be routed to a location in a zone that contains the customer’s address, it is routed to the next matching zone in this list. The higher a shipping zone in the list, the higher its priority.

The default priority of shipping zones configured for your business is based on the order in which you create them. The first shipping zone you create has the highest priority, and the last one you create has the lowest priority.

To update the priority of shipping zones for orders in your business:

  1. Go to Settings > Shipping, and in the left menu, select Shipping zones.
  2. In the top-right corner, click Reorder priority.
  3. Select and drag the relevant shipping zones to the top of the list to increase their priority.
  4. Click Save.
