About discounts and promotions

NewStore Omnichannel Cloud supports offering discounts, coupons, and automatic promotions to customers in your business.

You can set up these discounts, coupons, or promotions via NewStore Omnichannel Manager. For more information, See Creating discounts and coupons (legacy) .

When all of these discount and promotion options are applied to the same order, they are applied in the following sequence:

Automatic promotions > Coupons > Manual discounts

Currently, discounts, coupons, and promotions can be set up with the following conditions:

Discounts

  • Can be applied as a percentage of the total value or as a specific amount.
  • Can be applied to specific items in the order or to the complete order.
  • Can be applied as a waiver for shipping costs for certain orders that exceed a specified amount.
  • Are only enabled when applied to at least one (or more) product or category, and to orders above a specified amount.

For example, you can create a discount that applies to men's jackets or to orders that are above USD 200 in value. For more information, see Creating a discount .

When multiple discounts apply to the same product, the discounts are calculated and applied in the following sequence:

  1. Discounts for individual items are applied first.
  2. Discounts for the whole order are applied next.

Coupons

  • Need associated coupon codes to be redeemed via NewStore Associate App.
  • Must be associated to discounts via NewStore Omnichannel Manager to be enabled.

Automatic promotions

  • Are applied automatically during checkout.
  • Can be applied as a percentage of the total value.
  • Can be applied as a fixed amount on specific products or on the total value.
  • Can be a Buy X Get Y promotion, where the customer can buy an item and receive a discount on an associated item(s) defined in the BOGO promotion. The discount can be a fixed amount or a percentage of the total value.
  • Can be applied to specific products or product categories, or to the complete cart.
  • Can exclude specific products.
  • Can be a Free shipping promotion, where the customer gets the shipping charges waived off completely on an order.

This feature is supported from Associate App v1.3.0 and later.

When multiple automatic promotions apply to the same product, the promotions are calculated and applied in the following sequence:

  1. Promotion bundles are applied first.
  2. Promotions for specific products are applied before promotions for the whole cart are applied.
  3. Percentage discounts are applied before fixed amount discounts.
  4. Buy X Get Y promotions are applied after product and cart promotions.

BXGY promotions with a percentage discount are applied before BXGY promotions with fixed amount discounts. For two BXGY promotions with the same type of discount, the one with a higher discount is applied first.

Using a third-party promotion engine

You can decide to use a third-party promotion engine such as Talon.One, if the native promotion engine at NewStore does not cater to all your promotion and discount related requirements.

In this case promotions are created and managed entirely in the third-party promotion engine, and the resulting effects are converted to discounts, and applied to the order or cart in Associate App.

Important

You cannot use the native promotion engine at NewStore if you decide to use a third-party promotion engine to manage your discounts and promotions.
